Our Darkhorse Dog of the Month is the most handsome boy named Red. Red is a 70-pound lover boy. He is 4-5 years old.
He loves outings and going on a walk in the park, or at your favorite pet store!
Volunteers say they have taken him on several outings, and his current favorite store is Tractor Supply. The rescuer said that Red encountered wheelchairs, kids, and lots of people and loved it all. When he’s on his outings, Red’s priorities are earning treats, sniffing food, and making friends.
Red was surrendered to a shelter when he was around 2-3 years old. His family moved and didn’t realize there was a breed ban in the area where they moved. They were forced to either rehome Red or euthanize him.
CARA took the sweet pup into their shelter. Once Red became acclimated to his new shelter life, he quickly became a shelter favorite.
Shelter workers say that Red loves to play fetch, tug-of-war and loves cuddles.
He lived with a small dog at his former home but would likely do best with no cats in the home.
Red is neutered, UTD on all shots and HW prevention, and is microchipped.
