Meet our Darkhorse Dog of the Week named Wade! He was found by Animal Control officers in Brookhaven.

Wade was sent to a local vet to assess an obvious leg injury.

He stayed at Animal Medical Center in Brookhaven for the weekend and has x-rays showing he had been shot and his leg was broken from the bullet impact.

There was damage shown to both rear legs in the xray. It appears the bullet went through one leg and kicked the other leg, which left a gash.

Not only was Wade shot, he was also extremely underweight and only weighed 22 pounds. The rescue said he was literally skin and bones.

The vet estimated that Wade is about a year old.

A plea went out for someone to help Wade and Safe Haven Rescue of Mississippi stepped up to help.

He has been placed in an experienced foster home where the slow feeding process has begun. Wade is beginning to gain weight and get his strength back. Once he gains enough weight, he will be able to have surgery to fix his injured leg.
