Dangerous Escaped Inmate Back In Custody In Lowndes County

Morgan Howard

An inmate who escaped on Halloween night in Lowndes County is now back in custody.
Terry Leshaun Brooks was found around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3.
Lowndes County Sheriff Deputies along with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Brooks into custody after a short foot chase in the 1300 block of 9th Ave North in Columbus.
He is now back at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with a new charge of escape. Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said,
“This is a perfect example of the importance of law enforcement partnerships. By partnering with the U.S. Marshals, we were able to apprehend Brooks before he was able to hurt anyone else. Thankfully our deputies found this career offender and put him back in jail where he belongs.”
