Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart confirms that a body was found inside of a vehicle in the parking lot at Jackson State University Friday morning.

She said the victim’s identity is not being released at this time but confirmed that it was a homicide.

Jackson State President Thomas K. Hudson J.D. said that the body was that of a student at the university. He also stated that a person of interest is in custody.

He released a message about the incident.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Jackson State University Campus Enforcement were all on scene investigating.
