On Wednesday, 25 January at approximately 4:42 p.m., Officer Boren with the Corinth Police Department responded to a call at Walmart in regards to shoplifting.
When he arrived, he met with Loss Prevention Associates who had two individuals detained in their office.
Officer Boren called dispatch to check the identification of the two individuals and both had active warrants for the City of Corinth. He arrested Steven Robert Manka of Michie, Tennessee under arrest and discovered a plastic wrapper containing a crystal substance. He then asked Mr. Manka what it was and he replied that it was Methamphetamines. A field test of the substance confirmed that it was Methamphetamines.
Mr. Manka was then transported to the Alcorn County Jail where he was booked in for his Active Warrants, and he was later charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamines).
The narcotics were processed into evidence and will be transported to the State Crime Lab for confirmation testing.
The felony drug charge will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanor charges will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
