On July 11, Detective Oglesby, Detective Suitor, and Lt. Austin responded to a 2-vehicle accident on Hwy 72 near Hwy 2 with a possibly impaired subject.

When officers arrived, they found a man identified as Jimmy Smith. A clear bag of a crystal-like substance on his person and a bag of a white powder-like substance was found in the vehicle.

Jimmy Smith was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Felony “methamphetamine”, Possession of a Controlled Substance Felony “Cocaine”, DUI other, and Possession of a Controlled Substance Misdemeanor.

The felony case will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanor cases will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
