On July 28, the Corinth Police Department tried to stop a reported stolen vehicle out of Alcorn County.
The driver didn’t stop and a chase ensued until the driver jumped out of the vehicle and crashed into a sidewalk and signs.
He ran on foot into a wooded area where detectives were able to arrest the suspect.
The suspect was identified as Dakota Jacob Burnett.
When officers searched the vehicle, they found a crystal-like substance along with two used needles.
The passenger of the vehicle Ryan Marshall Vandiver was taken into custody for a separate vehicle theft out of Tippah County.
Burnett was charged with Felony Fleeing and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
This case will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury.
