According to WLOX, the Coast Guard is investigating after a helicopter crashed into the Gulf of Mexico.

The crash happened about 10 miles off the coast of Louisiana Thursday afternoon.

WLOX confirms that there were four passengers on the flight. One of them was a south Mississippi man who has been identified as 36-year-old David Scarborough, an oil rig worker from Lizana. WLOX says they know he was aboard because he’s the nephew of one of their staff members.

Right now, his current status is unknown while the Coast Guard is searching for passengers.

Scarborough has worked offshore for eight years. He just completed a two-week shift and was on his way home, according to WLOX.
