Investigators in Clarke County and state agents shut down a local assisted living center in Enterprise on Tuesday.

According to the Scotty Ray Report, Clarke County has been working with the Department of Human Services and the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the facility, which is located on County Road 370.

“There have been issues there for years and everyone knows it,” Sheriff Anthony Chancelor told WTOK. “This is an ongoing investigation and the families of patients and citizens of this community can sleep better at night knowing that this place is no longer in business.”

Authorities say the patients have been moved to another location.

Chancelor stated that the investigation is a criminal case.
