The City of Greenville is mourning the loss of one of its best police officers.
Lieutenant Dondi Raynard Gibbs started working with the Greenville Police Department in June of 1990. He gave years of dedicated service to the community.
Lieutenant Gibbs held several positions such as Patrolman, Corporal, Patrol Supervisor, Warrant Division Supervisor, Gang Specialist, Criminal Investigator, Narcotics Investigator, Shift Commander (Lieutenant) and Chief of Detective Division.
The police department said that Gibbs obtained a great deal of training, experience, and knowledge that helped him become one of Greenville’s Finest.
Gibbs left the Greenville Police Department in 2008.
The Greenville Police Department posted on Facebook saying,
“We take this moment to extend condolences to his family and friends during a very difficult time. We will cherish the memories and the impact he had on all of us. Dondi Gibbs, take your rest….WE HAVE IT FROM HERE!”
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office also posted about Lieutenant Gibbs passing.
