South Carolina Woman Wanted For Kidnapping And Attempted Murder Arrested At Tunica County Casino

On Tuesday, May 28, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the abduction of a female and her 8-year-old son from a home in the Jefferson area.

After approximately eight hours, deputies successfully located both victims.

The adult female sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while her son was unharmed.

Two individuals have been charged in connection with the abduction, and additional arrests are anticipated.

State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Union County North Carolina Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) all assisted with the case.

Both the Tunica County and Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Offices emphasize the importance of community involvement and inter-agency cooperation in resolving serious incidents like these.

On Thursday, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about an individual with outstanding warrants visiting a local casino.

Following an investigation, deputies apprehended 45-year-old Amy Perez, of Union County, North Carolina. Perez was found to have several active warrants against her, including:

  • Intimidation of court officials, jurors, or witnesses
  • Impersonating a law enforcement officer
  • Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
  • Attempted murder
  • Kidnapping (two counts)
  • Burglary

Perez was arrested and transported to the Tunica County Jail, where she is being held.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with law enforcement officials from Chesterfield County regarding Perez’s apprehension.
