According to the Brandon Police Department, on February 27, at 8:00 p.m., Flowood police tried to make a traffic stop.

The suspect fled, beginning a pursuit down East Metro to Highway 80 into Pearl. Pearl police joined in on the chase and it continued Eastbound on Highway 80 to Crossgates Boulevard.

Brandon police tried using spike strips at Crosspark Drive to stop the suspect. The suspect continued Eastbound on Highway 80 causing three other vehicles to wreck at Crossgates Boulevard and Highway 80 before a Brandon Police Department unit performed a pit maneuver and ended the chase.

The chase ended at Service Drive in front of Trust Care.

Police arrested Charles Lee Murphy of Louisiana. He was taken to the Rankin County Jail. Murphy faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, felony fleeing, use of a deadly weapon, and two counts of hit and run.
