The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple agencies, is actively investigating bomb threats at two local high schools.
According to Sheriff Tuggle, the first threat was reported at Southaven High School about an hour ago. The school was immediately evacuated, and K9 units were deployed to search the premises. At 12:07 p.m., a second threat was received, this time targeting DeSoto Central High School. The school was promptly evacuated as well.
Sheriff Tuggle emphasized that the safety of students is a top priority, and the Sheriff’s Office takes all threats very seriously. The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with Superintendent Ulseton and his staff, who have helped assist during the evacuations and ensure student safety.
Authorities are coordinating with local, state, and federal partners to identify the source of these threats.
Anyone with information related to these threats is asked to contact local law enforcement immediately.
