Authorities recently conducted a seizure that is believed to be one of the largest interdiction seizures of methamphetamine destined for the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
A release from Hattiesburg Police Department said that on Sunday, federal, state and local agents executed an operation that involved extensive surveillance before a traffic stop. When the vehicle was stopped, police found around 121 kilograms of meth being shipped from a drug trafficking organization that operates out of Dallas and Houston, Texas. No information has been given about the suspects or vehicle, and the location of the stop has also been omitted so far.
The post said the following agencies were involved: The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Hattiesburg Post of Duty (HPOD), DEA Gulfport Resident Office (GRO), Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD), Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), Hancock County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Waveland Police Department (WPD), and the Bay St. Louis Police Department (BSLPD).
