Ambulance struck by vehicle Friday night on the coast, two hospitalized

A medic and a patient were taken to be treated at a nearby hospital Friday night after a Pafford Ambulance on the coast was hit by another vehicle.

Pafford Emergency Services officials told WLOX that the wreck happened at Briarfield Avenue and Highway 90 just before 8:30 p.m. Friday. Four Pafford employees were on the ambulance along with the patient.

Pafford EMS released a statement to the media saying the following:

Pafford EMS is grateful for the quick response of emergency services personnel who arrived at the scene promptly to provide assistance. We are cooperating fully with the Biloxi Police Department as they lead the investigation into the cause of the collision.

Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our patients, crew members, and the public. This is a difficult night and our prayers are for all those involved.

The accident is under investigation.
