Jackson Police are investigating a shooting that occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday.
Police say Erik Barnes, 31, was shot at St Charles Street and Wacaster Street. Barnes was transported to tbe University of Mississippi Medical Center by American Medical Response and rushed into surgery with life threatening injuries. Authorities say during the preliminary investigation no motive was given.
The Homicide Unit has been informed by the Hinds County Coroner that Erik Barnes succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
