A Biloxi man was arrested after carrying a gun on the grounds of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and allegedly assaulting an officer Monday night.

According to WLBT, police say Richard Neil, 49, allegedly resisted arrest and then attacked an officer while allegedly carrying a 9mm handgun.

Neil is charged with possession of a weapon after felony conviction, carrying a concealed weapon on school grounds, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

The officer was treated and released.
