The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is pleased to announce the promotion of three conservation officers during the December meeting of the Commission on Mississippi’s Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. “We are excited to have these leaders step into these new roles at MDWFP,” said Col. Jerry Carter. “They will help continue to move law enforcement forward and further protect our state’s natural resources.”

Officer Promotions:
*Lt. Col. Scottie Jones (promoted from major) will serve as assistant chief of Law Enforcement.
*Maj. Megan Fedrick (promoted from captain) will administer education and outreach programs, including Hunter Education, Boater Education, the Mississippi Scholastic Shooting Program, and the agency’s state shooting facilities.
*Maj. Chris Reed will now assume responsibilities as law enforcement administrator for the Central Region, overseeing 25 counties and 42 officers.

“Maj. Fedrick is the first female to be promoted to the rank of major in the history of our agency,” said Dr. Sam Polles, Executive Director of MDWFP. “We are proud of all the hard work and dedication she, Maj. Reed, and Lt. Col. Jones have displayed over their combined 61 years of service, and look forward to seeing how they continue to serve in these new roles”.
