A Mississippi man was shot while officials say he was trying to run down a Georgia state trooper after a pursuit.

According to the Associated Press, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Willie Lee Austin, 30, is in critical condition.

The pursuit ended in Haralson County after a Polk County officer tried to pull a truck over for speeding Saturday, officials said.

Allegedly, a state trooper tried to stop the truck by bumping it on Highway 27. When officers approached the truck, it drove toward them. Police say both officers fired at the truck.
