The Jones County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two individuals on Capital Murder charges in the 2019 death of a six month old child, Rosalee Stringer.

Brooke Stringer, age 22, and the mother of Rosalee Stringer and her boyfriend Brandon Gardner (who is not the biological father of the deceased child) have both been arrested and charged with Capital Murder.

The child was reported to be injured at the couple’s residence in the Gitano Community of Jones County on October 26, 2019. She was discovered by EMServ medics to be unresponsive and not breathing and transported to South Central Regional Medical Center with life saving efforts underway.

The child was later airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and died of her injuries on October 28, 2019.

The lengthy investigation by JCSD investigators, the Jones County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the State Medical Examiner determined that six month old Rosalee Stringer died from blunt force trauma to the head.

“JCSD Investigator Sgt. J.D. Carter has worked diligently on this case and coordinated investigative efforts with the District Attorney’s Office and State Medical Examiner,” said Sheriff Joe Berlin. “The very detailed and thorough investigation involved an autopsy and many, many hours of interviews of witnesses and medical professionals. Unlike television crime shows, these cases aren’t solved in an hour.”

Brooke Stringer and Brandon Gardner are now incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending their initial appearance at 1:00pm today in Jones County Justice Court.
