Jackson police working 4 shootings in less than 24 hours

It’s becoming more and more routine every day to receive the news that Jackson has had multiple shootings.

On Thursday, Jackson police are working on four shootings in less than a day. Details on the incidents are sketchy so far, and at this point it’s unclear if there are suspects.

  • The first shooting happened Wednesday, just before 4 p.m. in an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Woodland Way. A man was wounded after suspects fired shots into the complex from an unknown vehicle. The victim was transported and last listed as critical but stable.
  • On Wednesday night just before 11 p.m. in the 3000 block of Woodbine Street, a man was wounded after multiple shots were fired by suspects in an unknown vehicle. The victim was transported and last listed as stable, though his condition is unclear.
  • The next shooting occurred just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday on University Blvd near Porter Street. Unknown suspects fired shots into a vehicle, wounding a man inside. The victim was transported by private and is listed in critical condition.
  • Another shooting occurred just after 2:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Lanier Avenue when a man was wounded by several shots fired into a home. The victim was transported and last listed as stable, though his condition is unknown.

One media outlet did refer to the shootings as isolated incidents, however that’s also unclear at this point in the day.
