Gulfport police have made an arrest in a homicide that took place on Sunday.
According to a release from GPD, Phillip Latrell Collins, 50, was charged today with one count of first degree murder after the death of James Andrew Higgins, 59.
Police say they went to a home on 25th Street for a welfare check, and when they got thre, Higgins was found dead. It appeared he was the victim of a homicide.
As detectives worked the case, they learned that Higgins and Collins had gotten into a fight. Collins had allegedly stabbed Higgins multiple times and fled the scene.
Collins has been booked and was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility. He is being held without -bond.
