A man was injured in a two-vehicle wreck that shut down Highway 80 in Rankin County Friday.
The lane closures went both ways and lasted for about an hour and a half.
According to emergency officials on scene, the back end of an 18-wheeler was sticking out into Highway 80 as it waited for a gate to open to make a delivery. A pickup truck heading westbound struck the back of the semi and went underneath it, coming out the other side to come to rest about 100 yards away on the opposite side of the road.
The driver was extracted from the wreck, and officials said he was awake and alert on scene. He was taken by Air Care to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
