Multiple fire agencies and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality are on the scene of Westlake Chemical on Highway 51 in Gallman where a fire has broken out.
According to Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley, the fire is now contained to one building of the plant and there are no injuries.
Westlake is a manufacturer of healthcare products, automotive and consumer goods as well as building and construction products.
Director of Emergency Operations Randall Drane said that while 14 different chemicals are housed within Westlake, they are currently only dealing with mineral oil. Drane said that the only evacuations were at the plant level.
Investigators have not released any details about how the fire started.
