One of the men accused in the shooting death of a Jackson pastor has been sentenced to serve only around 25 years in prison.

Morgan Quinn was 19 when he was a part of the ambush shooting death of Pastor Anthony Longino. The slaying occurred on January 13, 2019, when Longino was opening New Bethany Church, where he was the pastor. The assailants then robbed his body, which lay at the door of his church, and stole his truck.

Quinn was originally charged with capital murder, armed robbery, auto theft and conspiracy, but it was pleaded down to second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

On Tuesday, Quinn was sentenced to 40 years, with 10 years suspended and five years of supervised probation. He was also given 20 years to serve concurrently with, which means at the same time as, his other sentence.

Pastor Longino was loved by his church, his family, and his community. He was 62 years old.
