Jones County deputies are investigating after a 55-year-old was shot in the chest.
The shooting happened December 20th at a home on Highway 29 South in the Ovett area.
When deputies arrived, they found a man named James Brady who had been shot one time in the chest.
Deputies immediately rendered care and performed CPR until paramedics came, but Brady was pronounced dead on the scene.
After a thorough investigation, the investigation revealed that Mr. Brady died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said they are working to determine if the wound was accidental or intentional.
