Hattiesburg PD cracks down on felons with firearms; 3 recent arrests

Hattiesburg Police Department has made several arrests recently involving convicted felons with firearms.

Arrest 1:
On Thursday, October 7, Hattiesburg Police arrested Jeffery Ware, 42, of Hattiesburg near Service Drive and Broadway Drive, after officers responded to a disturbance.
Ware was charged with one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and booked into the Forrest County Jail.

Arrest 2:
On Friday, October 8, HPD arrested Lonzo Smith, 55, of Hattiesburg, near Dumas Avenue and Berry Street around 8:30 p.m.
Smith was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor) and an enhancement for possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm.
Smith was booked into the Forrest County Jail.

Arrest 3:
On Saturday, October 9, police arrested Marcus Mckeller, 34, of Purvis, in the 5700 block of Highway 49, at Club Exclusive, around 10 p.m. on multiple felony charges.
Mckeller was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute-with an enhanced penalty for possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen firearm within 1500 feet of a church.
Mckeller was booked into the Forrest County Jail.
