A man is dead after firing shots at Jackson police officers early Sunday morning.

A release from spokesman Sam Brown says officers were called to 5075 I-55 North Frontage Road where they found a man dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Police identified Dishawn Sanders as the suspect in the shooting of Josh Casaus.

Authority say during the course of the investigation, Sanders also fired at the officers. Police returned fire striking and killing Sanders.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive. This case is still under investigation.
