Jackson police are investigating a series of Monday night shootings that left two dead and four others wounded.

Jackson Police Department stated on their twitter that the incident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Oakland Ave. One man was fatally injured and two others were wounded in an exchange of gunfire. A stolen vehicle and several firearms were recovered at the scene.

Suspects in the stolen vehicle had fired shots into a car at a home, critically wounding a man there. The man shot back, killing one of his alleged attackers and injuring a third man. The incident is believed to be retaliation stemming from a prior incident, and charges are pending.
