17-Year-Old Shot on Moore Avenue in Tupelo

On September 28, at approximately 5:45 pm Tupelo Police Department was notified of a shooting in the 3000 block of Moore Avenue.
Officers found a 17-year-old male who had been shot in the lower torso. They transported him to NMMC Emergency Room with a serious injury.
Police said that the teenager is expected to survive.
According to witness statements, two black male suspects were involved with the shooting and fled prior to officer arrival. Tupelo Police officers along with K-9’s searched the area but did not find the suspects.
Shortly after the shooting officers received information that a possible weapon and suspect were in a home on Beasley Drive. A search of the home revealed a felony amount of narcotics as well as several stolen firearms.
Some of the firearms had altered serial numbers as well.
A person of interest was detained as a result of that search.
The evidence is still being analyzed and any help from the public is welcome.
