Thursday Weather: still hot; scattered afternoon showers and storms

Heat Alert from the National Weather Service: Elevated heat stress due to continued hot and humid conditions are expected this afternoon through Friday afternoon. Peak heat indices will range from 106 to 110 degrees along the interstate 55 corridor and points westward. Elsewhere, heat indices will rise to near 105 degrees. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are likely with prolonged outdoor activity. Take frequent breaks and hydrate when working outdoors!

Isolated to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected today with high temperatures reaching the mid 90s. Overnight we’ll see temps in the 70s and some possible lingering showers.
