The Jones County Sheriff’s Department has arrested Tierra Lewis, age 25, on a charge of Felony Child Abuse after Lewis’ newborn child tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.

Lewis will make her initial appearance today, Wednesday, July 27th, at 1:00pm in Jones County Justice Court.

“We are dedicated to protecting innocent children, in this case a newborn baby, from illegal narcotics,” said JCSD Investigator Sergeant J.D. Carter. “It is a sad thing for a child to come into this world with methamphetamine and amphetamine in their system.”

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin concludes, “History has proven that we don’t tolerate this type of behavior. This is a felony child abuse charge and we will pursue justice.”
