Jackson police are investigating the homicide of a 15-year-old girl after her body was found in a south Jackson intersection.

According to WLBT, the teenager was found on the corner of Meadow Lane and McCluer Road.

Police were called around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening about a body found lying in the intersection.

Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart identified the victim as 15-year-old Snamya Anderson.

WLBT reports that witnesses in the area claim they heard 6 gunshots. Another witness said that they saw a man on foot running West on McCluer after the girl was shot.

He appeared to be shooting as he ran from the scene, then after he noticed a crowd of people gathering around the 15-year-old’s body, he ran back and began shooting again at the people gathered around the body.

WLBT said that the witness reports that the suspect was picked up by a vehicle.
