Jones County: Grand Larceny suspect escapes custody, still on the run

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a grand larceny suspect who fled custody Monday on Highway 184 just west of the Powers Volunteer Fire Department fire station at approximately 3:20pm.

The suspect, Cody Saulters, was initially handcuffed and seen wearing black shorts, no shoes, and no shirt. He is approximately 6′ tall, 140 lbs with blonde hair. He was last seen running in the woods going west on the south side of Highway 184.

Saulters was then spotted overnight on Bill Touchstone Road in the Powers Community. He had assistance in cutting his handcuffs off and obtaining clothing. He was last seen wearing a blue and black jersey with the number “7” on it, khaki pants, and green Crocs footwear.

JCSD deputies searched the area between Buckley Road, Reid Road, and Northeast Drive overnight, but no additional sightings were reported. JCSD K9’s and ground search teams were utilized Monday afternoon and overnight in the search.
