Authorities say a Gulfport police officer was arrested Thursday after alledly driving his city vehicle drunk.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol noticed a car that left the road near Highway 605 and Highway 607 just before 3 a.m. Thursday.
WLOX reports that Gulfport Police Detective Manuel Santos was the driver, and he was in his city-issued patrol car. He allegedly failed a sobriety test and was charged with DUI.
The Gulfport Police Department told WLOX that Santos was off duty at the time. There is an investigation into the event, and Santos is on leave pending the outcome.
