Moselle man arrested on drug, weapon, and child abuse charges in JCSD raid

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a Moselle home on Thursday, March 31, which resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer.

Matthew Logan, age 37, was arrested and charged with:

*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute While In Possession of a Firearm
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute While in Possession of a Firearm
*Child Abuse x 3

Numerous complaints of possible drug trafficking had been reported about his residence from area residents. Other charges may be pending.

JCSD held a Monday morning Press Conference with the following information released:

*3.5 ounces of meth located and seized
*1.8 lbs. of marijuana with packaging materials located and seized
*19 long guns (rifles and shotguns) with two rifles having illegal homemade suppressors located and seized. Logan may be facing federal charges from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on these two illegal suppressors.
*7 handguns with 1 having the serial number filed off located and seized
*Bomb making literature located and seized
*Apparent stolen/missing notary stamp from the University of Southern Mississippi located and seized
*$10,434 in cash located and seized
*Hundred of rounds of pistol, shotgun and rifle ammo located and seized

Logan’s home on Hodge Road is approximately one mile from Moselle Elementary School. He had security gates and numerous security cameras installed and operating.

Matthew Logan was armed with a handgun when the no-knock warrant was executed. JCSD narcotics agents, deputies and command staff followed him in to his residence when he drove in and while the gate was open. He was removed from his vehicle and taken into custody.

“Great job by our narcotics agents in building the case for a search warrant on Matthew Logan’s alleged drug trafficking operation,” notes Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin. “This was considered a high risk search warrant of a major drug dealer which was executed flawlessly by our narcotics agents, investigators, patrol deputies, and command staff.”

Matthew Logan is incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility on a $75,000 bond which was set by Jones County Justice Court.
