Tupelo police are looking into what they say is a domestic violence homicide.

On Friday 2:30 p.m. Tupelo Police were dispatched to a Locust Lane address for an unwanted person and possible domestic violence call.

Upon arrival officers located a woman dead under the carport. Preliminary evidence indicated she had died from a gunshot wound. A man on scene was detained without incident. No other persons of interest are currently sought and nobody else was at the home.

This death investigation is in the early stages.

The exact nature of how the female was shot is still being investigated. More information will be released when appropriate.
