Jones County Sheriff’s Department deputies and investigators are searching for an armed robbery suspect who robbed the Rapid Express at 1612 Highway 184 in the Powers Community this evening.

The suspect is described as a black male, slender in build, approximately 5′ 9″ in height, wearing a blue bandanna, long sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves and brandishing a handgun.

JCSD K-9 BOLO and Handler Deputy La-Dean Byrd tracked the suspect from behind Rapid Express through the woods to a location on Highway 184 where it is believed the suspect was picked up in a vehicle by an accomplice.

There were no injuries reported to the female store clerk, though she was shaken by the incident.
