Hattiesburg PD Addresses Community About Shooting That Claimed The Life Of A 6-Year-Old, Critically Injured 5-Year-Old and 20-Year-Old

Hattiesburg PD seeking identification of this vehicle

On Sunday, February 27, 2022, Hattiesburg Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Willis Avenue, around 10:15 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, three individuals were suffering from gunshot wounds, inside a residence. All three victims were transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital.

In a press release that was live-streamed on Facebook, Hattiesburg Police Chief Peggy Sealy revealed that the shooting claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy, and critically injured a 5-year-old child, and a 20-year-old male.

The children were inside of their home on a Sunday afternoon playing video games.

“This type of heartless violence is not acceptable by any means in the city of Hattiesburg, and will not be tolerated,” said Chief Sealy. “The individuals who did this act, you will be found and held accountable for these actions. We will work diligently and around the clock to bring those whoa re responsible for this act to justice.”

The police department is asking for the public’s help in finding a blue vehicle that was seen in the area of the shooting.
