On September 28, Tupelo Police Officers responded to a report of an infant in respiratory distress in the Carnation Street Area.
Officers and Emergency Medical Services rendered aid to the child.
Tupelo police said the child continues to receive medical care and is in serious condition.
After further investigation, 25-year-old Meghan Chappell (from Tupelo) was charged with Felony Child Abuse.
On September 28, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Chappell to be held on a $100,000 bond. These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
