An investigation into fraudulent charges at local convenience stores has led to the arrest of Jecyn Leigh Nino, uncovering a significant theft operation involving U.S. mail and stolen checks.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation into unauthorized transactions happening throughout the county. The Criminal Investigations Division identified Nino as the suspect.

She was arrested during a traffic stop.

Following her arrest, further intelligence suggested that Nino was staying at an Airbnb within Rankin County.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the property, which resulted in the discovery of approximately 200 pieces of stolen U.S. mail and around 150 stolen checks. The investigation revealed that Nino had been stealing checks from mailboxes in Rankin, Madison, and Hinds counties.

Jecyn Nino currently faces multiple charges, including two counts of Credit Card Fraud, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle while in Possession of a Firearm. As the investigation spans multiple counties and jurisdictions, additional state charges may be filed as more victims are identified.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department has been collaborating with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to address the theft of mail involved in this case.
