On Sunday, January 28, at approximately 2:32 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 North near the 84-mile marker in Hinds County.

A 2013 Ford Fiesta driven by 29-year-old Chris Wilson of Crystal Spring, MS, was traveling north on I-55 when it collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 36-year-old Heather Kacarka of Wesson, MS.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries. Heather Kacarka received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at UMMC.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
