After a line of severe thunderstorms moved across part of the area early this morning, a heat advisory is in place for parts of Mississippi until 8 p.m. Friday.

Adams, Claiborne, Copiah, Franklin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, and Warren counties are in the area affected by the heat advisory.

Additional scattered showers and thunderstorms may redevelop this afternoon. High temperatures will range from the middle 80s to middle 90s.

Scattered severe storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail up to golf ball size are possible this afternoon through tonight.

This weekend we can expect to see mixed clouds and sun with scattered thunderstorms throughout Saturday and Sunday. Gusty winds and small hail are possible.
