On Thursday evening, October 3rd, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 84 in Jones County. The accident, which occurred around 7:00 p.m., involved a 2006 Chevrolet Impala and a 2024 Kia Sportage, both traveling eastbound on the highway.

According to authorities, the Chevrolet Impala was driven by 74-year-old Roger Knight of Laurel.

The second vehicle, a Kia Sportage, was driven by 28-year-old Deanna James from State Line, Mississippi.

The two vehicles collided while traveling in the same direction on the highway, leading to injuries sustained by Mr. Knight. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Ms. James was not injured in the incident.

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. No further details have been released at this time.
