On September 13, the Gulfport Police Department arrested a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old. They were both charged with one count each of Possession of a Firearm by a Minor at a School.
At 12:25 p.m., school resource officers were told that there was possibly a student with a weapon at Gulfport High School.
Police said the firearm was seized from the student without incident.
Both of the teenagers were processed at the Harrison County Youth Detention Center.
Sgt. Jason Ducre said,
“We would like to express our gratitude and admiration to the courageous students who came forward and reported the presence of a firearm on campus. Their actions demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of their fellow students.”
The identities of the students is not being released since they are minors.
