Two juveniles arrested in string of incidents in Hattiesburg including shooting near WCU

According to Hattiesburg police, a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested Wednesday for their alleged role in a shooting near William Carey University and other incidents.

It began when officers responded to shots fired on Tuscan Avenue near the William Carey campus, around 10 a.m. The campus was placed on lockdown subsequently.

Both of the teens were from Hattiesburg, and they were charged in connection to the shooting incident, during a string of incidents that took place from the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 24 through Wednesday, Oct. 25.

The 13-year-old was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of grand larceny auto, and four counts of possession of a stolen firearm.

The 17-year-old was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of possession of a stolen firearm.

HPD says other charges are possible from Hattiesburg, Laurel and Petal police departments.
