Tupelo Police Investigate Two Separate Homicides Monday Night

Tupelo Police are investigating two separate homicides that occurred within an hour of each other late Monday night, July 29.\

Homicide at Spring Mart:

The first incident was reported around 9:30 p.m. at the Sprint Mart located at 899 East Main Street. A man who was part of a disturbance on Canal Street, was stabbed and drove to the Sprint Mart at East Main Street and Veterans Boulevard.

Emergency services were called, and the victim was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide at Hilldale Apartments:

The second incident was reported around 10:30 p.m. at Hilldale Apartments, 320 Monument Drive. Police responded to reports of gunshots and an adult male gunshot victim at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing the victim lying on the ground. The victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle, where he was pronounced dead.

Tupelo Police Detectives are searching for separate persons of interest in each case. Names and descriptions have not been released, but it is believed that the victims and offenders had prior interactions and that these were not random acts.
