Tupelo Police Arrest Woman in Connection with Alleged U-Haul Theft And Storage Unit Burglary

The Tupelo Police Department has arrested 47-year-old Melanie T. Sloan, of Mooreville, in connection with the burglary of a commercial building and an ongoing vehicle theft case.

On July 19, 2024, officers responded to a reported burglary at Big Lenny’s Storage located at 107 North Industrial Road, where a storage unit had been broken into.

Following an investigation, Sloan was arrested on August 15, for an active Lee County Circuit Court Alias Capias Warrant related to a 2020 vehicle theft from U-Haul at 1207 East Main Street.

In addition to the existing warrant, Sloan was charged with Burglary of a Commercial Building for the incident at Big Lenny’s Storage.

On August 16, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir set Sloan’s bond at $7,500 for the burglary charge. This case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury. Additionally, Sloan is being held without bond by Lee County Circuit Court for the vehicle theft charge, which is awaiting trial.
