On August 16, Tupelo police were called to an armed robbery at a gas station on McCullough Blvd.
When officers arrived, they were told that the suspect entered the store with a knife. He robbed the gas station clerk and took her car keys and cell phone.
Before he left, the suspect forced the clerk, at knife point, to the station’s bathroom and told her to lay down on the floor.
As he was leaving, the suspect stole the clerk’s vehicle.
A short time later, the stolen vehicle was spotted by an officer with the Pontotoc Police Department and, after a short pursuit, the officer was able to take the suspect into custody.
Police charged 25-year-old Dallas W. White (of Blue Springs) with Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Felony Taking of a Motor Vehicle. Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered White to be held without bond.
These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury. The Pontotoc Police Department also helped apprehend the suspect.
