Tupelo Man Arrested for Stolen Firearm and Drug Paraphernalia at Oxford Checkpoint

During a traffic safety checkpoint on College Hill Rd on August 31, Oxford Police arrested 20-year-old Javion Foote of Tupelo, MS, after officers detected the strong odor of narcotics coming from his vehicle.

A search of the car revealed narcotics on the passenger side floorboard where Foote was sitting, along with two firearms under the seat.

One of the firearms was confirmed to be stolen from Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Foote was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was brought before a Municipal Court judge for an initial bond hearing. The investigation is ongoing.
